Phase II Development Starting Soon

 

Phase II construction begins in the Fall of 2008 and will launch with the renaming of Family Leisure Centre to Trico Centre for Family Wellness. The Phase II expansion includes twinning our existing arena, re-modeling the facility's front entrance to improve access for users, improvements to the outdoor athletic fields surrounding FLC, construction of a new family change room, expansion of the food services area and increased space for parking.

A Successful Partnership

 

 

This campaign to raise $19.5 million for a new arena at the Family Leisure Centre began with a partnership between Family Leisure Centre and Bow Valley Hockey Society in 2006.  The parents of children involved in hockey knew, firsthand, of the need for more facilities in Calgary. 

 

The project appealed to FLC, which had just undertaken a very successful renovation, because it provided an opportunity to redesign the entrance to the facility and add more space for services related to a sport, wellness and recreation complex.

 

A fundraising committee was formed with representatives from both FLC and BVHS. The committee, chaired by Kevin Willerton, is committed to raising the funds necessary for the FLC expansion.

 

The campaign has been very successful. Some highlights have been:

 

• Trico Homes became a naming sponsor of the FLC complex which will be renamed the Trico Centre for Family Wellness,
• The City of Calgary committed funds to the project;
• Other major sponsors and donors include Spindle, Stairs and Railings, Totem Building Supplies,  and After Eight Interiors;
